Spoke with Laurel today. They are no longer providing this insurance to Canadians as it is apparently contra to CDN insurance law.

I checked with Laurel - the problem is with Ontario regulations only so all other provinces are still covered.

Not sure if you all say this on the PCNA news.

PCA is pleased to announce a new member benefit program for its members. We have entered into an association with Lockton Affinity who has created a Driver Education insurance program specifically tailored for our members. In addition to providing this coverage, Lockton has agreed to offer exclusively to PCA members a 10 percent discount on HPDE insurance premiums! For most of us using this service, the savings will more than pay for our yearly PCA membership dues!

The details and a quick quote can be found here

Some policies exclude coverage if an acident is not on a public road.
Here is the issue with most companies in Ontario: They will NOT process a claim without a reporting center claim number or Police incident number where damage is above the reporting threshold. Without either of these reports you are considered to have failed to report an accident which is subject to suspension of your policy. Even minor accidents where no police report is needed (if you read your policy) have to be reported to your company.

There are very few areas where insurance companies will pay off (other then public liability) for loss of vehicle while on private property. I have heard of claims where a guy failed to set his e brake and the car rolled down into a lake at a friends cottage and his car was a write off due to the repair cost exceeding the value, but that sounded as if it was a s**t happens type 'judgment' from the company in that case. I think they look at your years with their firm and claim record and waive the hardcore attitude. Certainly in my policy, (State Farm) 'off road use not permitted' is pretty clear.

Lets not even talk about bank loan agreements or lease agreements...

Read this article: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com...rack-Coverage/

But "the industry began to add a new exclusion to its policies in the late 1990s, with most companies adding it within the last few years. Instead of trying to define racing, policies exclude damage at any location that could accommodate racing, timed or not. That eliminated coverage during high-performance driving schools and track days."
In short: Don't ask, don't tell and turn off the OnStar!!!! (We've had Durham Regional show up at the gate at Mosport responding to OnStar calls of an air bag deploy signal. When I would track my CTS, I would disable the OnStar, just in case... (http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answe...ble/index.html)
There is probibly a 'how to do' for other brands if you google.

Emailed these guys about the insurance coverage for DE days

Adam:

Unfortunately at this time we are unable to extend coverage to Canada. We are looking into this but I do not have a time line for approval. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
