Yearly insurance costs in Canada

I'll probably put the collision coverage on mine when I put it on the road next week. As I remember, it's about another $500 per year with $1000 deductible. I figure my car is worth around $32,000. It's also the aggravation factor of not having collision that I have to consider. A few years ago, I got whacked (not in my p-car thank goodness!) by another driver, and he was 100% at fault. (unsafe lane change, so said the police report) I got side-swiped...it was driveable...but looked real ugly. Because I didn't have collision, I personally had to chase after his insurance company to fix my car. It was a major pain in the ***! After about a dozen phone calls, 4 months of chasing after them, and theatening legal action if they didn't hurry up...they finally decided to pay for the damage. If I had collision coverage, I would have gotten my car fixed a lot quicker, and they would have dealt with the other insurance company. So that's something else that people should consider if they decide to not get the collision coverage.

That's what they mean by "no fault insurance".
When do you stop putting collision on a car? When you can basically afford to "self-insure" the value of the car. IMHO

Actual amount paid will be less because
I plan to take off of insurance during winter months.
Liability: $ 1 mill
Deductable: $ 3 000.00 (WTF...)
Tickets: none (in 6 yrs)
Accident claims: 1 (one year ago; deemed not at fault by police/insurance)
Vandalism claims: 1 (11 years ago)

Just got my bill in the mail a few days ago. $1162 a year with PL/PD, collision, $1000 deductible, and no glass coverage. It sounds like I'm getting a deal compared to some of you other guys.....

Glass coverage is a killer in Calgary. My Comprehensive went from $669 down to $174 after removing the glass coverage. Any idea what the installed cost of a new windshield is? After 2 years you have nearly $1000 in the piggy bank for a new windshield

For some reason my rate dropped almost to half on my '85 928 since last year. $78/mo, full coverage including winsdhield, with $300 deductible. I'm with State Fram and have other cars with them too.

Full coverage with 1M liability, 1K deductible, 30 years old, 1993 RSA = 1419$
Winter with fire/theft and still with 1K deductible = 707$
Both rates are based on a yearly contract. It's not 707$ for the few months of storage. Basically it averages out at 1130$ a year.

Hey.....I gotta get me one of those! What exactly is it, and how do I get one? I've always wanted a radar jammer, but I didn't think the technology is out there for laser.

I installed the Escort Shifter ZR3 system because it is compatable with Passport 8500 . I can use the Passport 8500 in my daily car The installation was done by my mechanic shop They cut a bit of the grill on both sides of where your front license plate goes for the two front Laser transceivers and the rear one was install on top of the rear license plate . They are hard to notice I like it .

briefescape....interesting, I'll have to check into it. My insurance company allows me only 1 ticket every three years before they jack up my rates substantially. I've got a bit of a heavy foot in my p-car....I know it's only a matter of time before I get nailed!
Thanks again!
