Just saying hello!
Hello everyone!
I'm new to the forums! After many years in the volkswagen community, I have luckily stumbled upon a 944 in the family. Looking forward to the new ride and starting the learning process!
I worked on my vw's a ton and had a wealth of knowledge provided by the vwvortex.com as well as a stream of canadian/american suppliers for oem parts/replacements/upgrades online. Is there anything like this in the porsche community? I'm sure the stealership prices aren't that student friendly
Cheers!
Parker

Parker,
Welcome to Rennlist - a great source of information from many friendly and helpful people.
As a fellow Canadian, I can tell you there are few great parts suppliers this side of the border. I have ordered most of my parts from Pelican (www.pelicanparts.com), Performance (www.performanceproducts.com), and AJ-USA (www.aj-usa.com). If you ive in a larger centre (I don't), you may have more options for parts suppliers.
You might also want to join PCA for DE's and the social events.

Thanks for your help Marc! It's good to know things will be available when the time comes to order.
YYC930, nice to see a Calgarian hanging around! Are there any good local shops around? parts suppliers? Once again, my knowledge only extends as far as my volkswagen history. However, if you are willing to deal with Bernie (the grump) Montgomery autoparts has porsche parts if I remember correctly...hmmm
Are there any good repair manuals besides the usual Haynes/chilton? For VW enthusiasts we refer to the 'Bentley' manual, Volkswagens bible.
Thanks everyone for your help so quickly! Be prepared for lots of questions
Cheers,
Parker

dub944......
The best shop in Calgary would be my partners in our building............ALPINE AUTOWERKS (Marc Boulanger and Peter Beyeler).................both guys are 25+ year dealership trained Porsche Master technicians.............been on their own now for 6 years...............403-287-9114.
As for shop manuals you can get everything on CD-ROM from GEORGE ALLAN in Vancouver............604-724-8098.

Welcome to Rennlist, don't forget to change your timing belt or your car will explode immediately! j/k Just take your mechanical advise with a grain of salt sometimes, most folks mean well but all they can do is regurgitate what others say or have no Idea what they speak of...
I also found this site, http://canada.europartsetc.com/ I haven't used them personally but may in the Spring. Also in Vancouver there is an outfit called SCAN, he's into 44's as well and also on this board.
