I do as well but had to be somewhat flexible for the possibility of Saturday through Monday for my photographer and his schedule. I'll check with him and let you know what our weekend preferences are.

By the way, it looks like we're aiming for leaving this coming Friday and returning on Sunday if the "crew" is available to shoot photos. There was some interest in others joining us for the trip and/or photo ops and I'm hoping that this is not too short of notice. If this weekend doesn't work out for us, we're aiming for the August 12/13 weekend.

Yes. I am talking about leaving this Friday morning and returning on Sunday. I'm going to investigate some acommodation options tonight and tomorrow morning. I really don't know where the best area is to stay. It's a lot bigger of an island than I thought. Any interest area recommendations? We plan to enter via the swing bridge and return via the ferry to Tobermory.

I could probably make it for the drive down but I would stay on the island and not take the ferry back.

As for places to stay you would probably be killing al a lot of time taken pictures at great locations around the Willisville/Whitefish Falls Area and probably would be better to stay at Little Current since its much closer to that area and if you want to drive to Gore Bay/Meltrum Bay for a day trip the next day and then head back to little current or south baymouth for the saturday night.

I guess it all depends what you are doing in the days and how much time you want to stay at your accommodations.

There is the ANCHOR INN HOTEL at little current

and WIGWAM MOTEL at South Baymouth

For those who didn't join us, too bad. It was an absolute blast. The scenery, the roads, the weather were all incredible. I can't wait to go back up there for another weekend in the fall when the leaves start turning colours. Manitoulin Island is as close as we'll ever get to the Autobahn or Isle of Man around here. High speed driving all day long was a blast. I'll post some pics later.

Man, it was a blast. With the exception of the towns and bays, the in-land roads were deserted. It made for very good high speed fun. I will definitely try to plan a group drive for a weekend in September or early October sometime. You shouldn't miss it.
