Running one on my 718. Happy with it but you have to detach the plate if you put on a car cover. Otherwise the whole assembly starts to droop and after a few months the whole thing falls off due to the weight of the cover. Really

Thanks guys! I ordered one of the ones that stick on to the plastic grill. I know some have had the 3m pads fail, but I like the placement of this style better.

I really loved the compact form of the Carbonio license plate mount and was hoping it would last longer but it failed. Unfortunately, after just a year and 4,000 miles, the 3M adhesive started peeling off. Luckily, I noticed it before I lost my plate 😄

I detach the plate if I know the car is going to be sitting overnight or longer. Takes literally seconds

I went with a Carbonio on my M2 Comp.
It was OK but a little cumbersome to take it on & off.

I've used a DIY rare earth magnetic plate holder on a few cars now and really like the look, ease of taking it off and putting it on.
Here's a few pics from the one I made for my 718.
I did the same for my C2S

Curious about this! No issues on bumpy roads or bad weather etc??

What about scratching/damaging the paint/bumper?

No issues whatsoever
Rare earth magnets are very strong.

I have PPF on my cars so paint damage is a not a problem

Tow hook on one of my cars has worked out pretty good...

I received mine this week. Pretty well made product. I plan on taking the plate off when in storage, so hopefully that will prolong the adhesive life a little.

Not sure if referring to Carbonio or mag mount
With magnet method you need a stack of several magnets to increase the holding power. (inside bumper & on plate holder)

The first car I did this with was an '07 Z4MC and several since.
I never had an issue with it falling off and ran the cars over many less than ideal roads.
e.g. We went down to Watkins Glen every year and many of the highways ( 90) down are terrible and plate held on great.

Ran the carbonio on my old spyder for 3 years with no issues, always took the plate off overnight and off season though.

Just reinstalled on my new spyder, make sure you clean with area with the alcohol pad then apply the supplied bonding agent sponge wipe before sticking the 3M mounting plate on. Hope this one lasts just as long.
