Default Extending CPO for another 2 years

I bought my 2014 911S January 2022, it was a CPO car. I am seriously thinking about extending my CPO before I put the car away in November. I have to do it before it expires in January 2024.
In the last two years I've had only one issue under the warranty, a change over valve went on it.
Its not a daily driver , its my toy, I've put on about 3000km in each of the past summers.
The car will be 10 years this Oct 2023, its not getting younger, it has 38000km on it.
My thoughts are , the car is getting older, do I want to own such a car without some protection. The only thing I do not like is that I'm kind of stuck using the dealership for service as opposed to a good 3rd party which in my case is Zorotech in Stoney Creek.
I think I'm going to do it, the cost is basically 2000/yr for peace of mind.
What have you done, this is my first porsche and understand nothing is cheap when it comes to repairs.
Thanks

It’s a personal choice, but I never drive a newer Porsche without warranty. I’d rather pay the $2,300/year insurance than get a $20k pdk failure surprise. It probably costs me more in the long run, but I keep the car longer when I have a warranty and avoid additional taxes, freight, pdi etc. I’m planning on keeping my Macan S as long as I can buy the extended warranty.

As I'm most likely going to keep my 2019 T, I'll be in a similar situation 1 year from now. It's a tough call to be sure.

There's only really two points of serious failure on these cars. The PDK and bore coring. You can get the car scoped for $500. If you have a PDK, yeah maybe consider it but $2K a yr adds up fast, really fast.

I have a few out of warranty and it hasn't been an issue for me, in that I should have extended CPO.

I looked at doing it on my 11 997.2 C4S. Not a DD rather only 2500-3500 km/year. I've had it since 2012. No issues. Just routine maintenance.

Of course it's like insurance and you pay for peace of mind. For me it wouldn't have been worth it. The money I saved can cover a repair in the near term, each year that goes by without issue is more money in the bank.

I would pass on CPO based on the car's mileage and your yearly mileage.

Well I've thought about this long enough and I think I will take my chances with not renewing the insurance. Hopefully repairs won't exceed 4000 in the next few years. Thanks for your input

self insure.. take the money you would pay for the warranty and put it in a seperate account allocated for repairs. Then you have at least protected yourself somewhat .

On a newer DD where you're putting on 15k km or more a year, additional warranty is a must in my books. $4k in a "repair account" won't go very far if anything moderately major fails and barely makes a dent in a PDK replacement bill. On an occasional driver seeing a few thousand KM a year, the gamble that the fund will pay for repairs might be a better bet.

On a 991.2 or 992 that is driven 10-15k a year, including some winter days I would lean towards extending. PDK + turbo seems potentially costly.

On an NA engine and manual I would be more on the fence...
