Default Porsche Saskatoon ppf - Experience?

Picking up my car in the next couple weeks and would prefer to have it wrapped before I do the 500+km drive home. I can’t drop in to look at their work and can’t find any online reviews.

Anyone have any experience?

Put some masking tape on key areas if you are worried. Then find a good PPF installer. Dealer will be a rip off. Plus you are not getting to see their work etc.

Curious, have you used them?

Their prices are competitive so hopefully someone on the forum will chime in with first hand knowledge on quality.

well that’s the glass half empty view LOL…. I just had the dealer in Calgary do a full wrap on my car, the price was fair / competitive and the job was very well done. Ask to talk to the detail guy who’ll install it, prepare yourself, and ask a few questions. That’s what I did, and made a thread like this.

on the way home (1000km) I also got a mega hit on the hood (pellet gun velocity the local guy said), so hard that it crushed the clear coat under the PPF, I’ll touch that up and put a new hood panel on locally, masking tape won’t help you with something like that, there’s also a tonne of road work underway right now

Confirm if they are wrapping using pre-cut film or if they are doing it properly. Pre-cut is garbage, as you will end up with dirt on the edges of the film. I recommend you take full control of the PPF wrap for a new ride.

I just removed a full wrap on a P-car, and it was utter garbage with so many seems and visible edges.

If you get it done locally to you then it will be much easier to rectify any issues with the installer.

My 2 cents.

Agree with the local part. On the pre-cut stuff I’ve not heard it is “garbage”, mine is pre-cut and all the edges are wrapped and tucked into the joints, no visible seams that I can see. I could see pre-cut that is not tucked to be a problem though.

Ya that is the issue when the seems are not tucked in. So the correct question to ask of the dealer is will all seems be hidden. Also I would not go with the cheapest quote for something like this. Good installers are almost artists.

SK did two of my cars and it was a cheaper film and mid tier at best. I've been thinking of having it redone. The Calgary dealer did one of mine and it was very good. Maybe if it's for a base Macan I would.

I picked up my car from Winnipeg and drove it back to Calgary. I know the owner of Refine Automotive and they are great to deal with. I had Rich give me a roll of some protective film for driving it the 1200+kms from Winnipeg to my place in southern alberta. I drove around like that for a couple weeks when I got it home. I then dropped the car off for rich to paint correct and wrap.

If you are in the Calgary area I would reach out to Rich at Refine and he will give you some advice and guidance and possibly be able to provide you some temporary wrap for the drive back. Tell him Matt sent you his way.

Good luck
