if the trade ins are low, people will try to private sale, once there are enough in the private market, dealer will make the choice to either lower the price or sit on the inventories.

GT3 prices were insane during COVID. And both Porsche and dealers took advantage of that. The proportion of GT3 compared to regular series 911 skyrocketed when the wait list was long. There is hope that they will come down significantly.

Sometimes I wonder if the market really is that bad, or if it's just their psyche getting in the way of the sale.
With insurance + storage costs and the opportunity cost of having that much capital tied up in one car I'd think they would be more aggressive in moving the inventory out the door, especially when cars are back to being a depreciating asset. To each their own.

That. The hope is that spring and summer will increase demand, and to a certain extent it certainly will. And the hope to BoC will drop rate finally. However considering the volume of 911s both GT and otherwise, no one will know if the strategy will work. Dropping the price at the moment is not a great idea as it will likely destabilize the market and devalue all the existing inventory. Tough place to be for a dealer right now, but don’t feel bad as they made a good amount the last few years.

I think the ones with so-so options and bloated builds are sitting. I recognize a few too, no sports package or SC seem to be mean the car sits. I've been watching and any 991.1 GTS CPO seem to go quickly at around 135+. Awesome sounding car...

also common place for dealers in the GTA to contact owners and simply ask if they would be willing to sell their car for cash, especially ones with very little mileage (add in covid). of course after a quick CPO it's quickly back on the market at a profitable price. this is exactly how my car became available almost 2 years ago. as long as the price is reasonable they will sell. they had to drop the price on mine $20k when it sat on the lot for two months without even a sniff of interest. I doubt that they are in that spot now that covid is over and people are driving again. they will be willing to wait quite a while.

I looked at a car there once, was a little rough but nothing i couldn't handle, but they said i couldn't test drive it without a deposit and i would agree to take it after the test drive if i found nothing wrong, that was an instant walk for me.

100%, same experience at other 3rd party dealers. I guess they have a lot of tire kickers but how can you expect someone to buy a car without a test drive? At a Porsche dealer, sometimes they come along or sometimes they just toss you the keys and say c ya in a bit.

Thanks for that. I was interested at a 2016 Panamera GTS they had in stock but by the time I saw it online, they had already sold it.

so they have a 90 day basic power train warranty on purchases. if you want more then pony op the cash for their 3rd party warranty. a lot of people do, but I figure if you have to pay for a warranty why not just go to a dealer and get a CPO car, at least for a porsche.
