When spending that kind of money, I want to find one that is clean with no accidents.
Finding the right one is tough. I have a speed yellow coupe that's the dream spec for me, but it took a lot of searching to find. Good luck on the hunt!

718 GT4 or Spyder fits right in that price range with very low km.

i used to own spyder than traded into Gt4.

spyder with sport seat(no cf buckets) provides very comfortable rides and easy to get in and out. Good candidate for a daily driver.

gt4 with bucket is a perfect track toy but not a great daily.

both are bulletproof.

160k will get you either with less than 7k km on the car with factory warranty.

Definitely the 718 GT4 is on the list. If the price comes down this year, I might just pull the trigger for one.

Also, do you like the GT4 coupe better than the Spyder? And why?

it is merely a personal preference tbh. After all it is a mechanically a same car.

however, without any technical knowledge and going by a personal “feeling” GT4 seems to be more rigid based on the fact that it’s got a roof.

driving position is also very different mainly due to cf bucket for gt4 and sport seat in spyder.

It is more rigid and any coupe will always be more rigid when compared to a convertible.

Its always great when some member in our local club comes up with data based on nothing and claims that his Boxster was more rigid than a 911 Coupe. I never got an answer where his data came from.

Actually, who cares but I did find a technical paper showing the torsional rigidity between coupes and convertibles of various makes from your basic vehicle to a super car. No comparison, coupes are vastly more rigid. No surprise there.

The 982 Cayman (41k Nm/degree) is extremely rigid, though the 982 Boxster/Spyder chassis is already very rigid at 19k Nm/degree, and I’ve never felt any perceptible chassis twist/bending or cowl shake. Keep in mind the 982 Boxster chassis is considerably more rigid than say a C8 Corvette (just 14k Nm/degree), and the C8 is much wider and heavier making it subject to greater twisting torques and bending moments, and I’ve never heard people actually driving a C8 notice any lack of rigidity.

The damper tuning on the 718 GT4 is stiffer than the 718 Spyder, so that may affect some of the perceived differences in rigidity.

Exactly why I stated "actually, who cares" in my post. On the street and even on DE days...who cares as you can sort out other aspects of the car. This sort of reminds me of a co-worker who looked at R&T magazines and thought the best 0-60 and 1/4 mile times were the be all and end all.

Then having some club member coming up with BS statements about rigidity, sorry, I worked in a lab, not in a make believe world that he must have come from. Yeah sure, a 2015 Boxster is more rigid than a 1970 911 Coupe, thanks to new metals and design.

I came across this on a t-shirt the other day...

718 Spyder is great on track (CTMP), more capable than most can utilize. No perceptible flex for me. GT4 also great. Have had both and now have one.

deciding factor should not be concern for flex on the 718 Spyder.

Mine might be available later this year. But will be market price of course.

GT4 vs Spyder - Spyder was my first convertible, I spec'd LWB. I love LWB. Great car but decided in a convertible I want more comfort (sport seat level will do) and something better for cruising, something like a grand tourer (911 convertible, AMG GT Roadster, SL Roadster etc) both have more comfort and torque (better for street and cruising). So traded it on a GT4 as it's also used on track. The convertible slot remains open. Bonus in a convertible for me would be ability to take 3 other people.

For the money I think either a GT4 or Spyder would be an ideal purchase out of the cars I had mentioned. With limited production on those cars will also help out in maintaining their value down the road.

Just waiting to see if they would go down in the $145K mark...if it does I will pull the trigger!!!

On the side note, no one mentioned about looking into at 997.1 GT3 in that price range?
