That's pretty much the max for Z's and most go well before. That's amazing mileage. I've never heard of a clutch going over 100K miles but I only really pay attention to peoples experience on my 2 vehicles. As long as my clutches last in the 74K miles range I'm happy to pay the price - if I am? - to clutch and engine brake.

Amazing. Kms I assume. Have you submitted to Guinness Book of Records? I think I recall a friend of ours mentioning the clutches on GT3 RS's are good for only about 15K miles? Might be that sports car clutches don't last as long as drivers........ because we treat 'em ruff.

70 in a Beetle is scary, when meeting traffic during a crosswind was terrifying.

There must have been something wrong with your car or your driving. Even going over the skyway bridge was no problem in my 59. My next car was a '72 that would cruise at 90+mph. I once drove it to Fredericton, averaging 73 mph including soup stops. My friend had his foot too close to the heater outlet, and I swear his boot started smoking. He had a part time job delivering fuel oil

I still have 2 westfalias that are also completely controllable.
