Default Interesting Numbers

With spare time on my hands, I crunched a few numbers from the Porsche dealer site (https://www.dealer-site.com/admin/build_sheets/) and was quite surprised at the results. Note that these are numbers for Canada only, and for the model year 2021.

718 Boxster - 125
  • Base - 13
  • S - 4
  • T - 1
  • GTS 4.0 - 50
  • Spyder - 57
718 Cayman - 101
  • Base - 9
  • S - 8
  • T - 2
  • GTS 4.0 - 39
  • GT4 - 43
911 - 370

Carrera
  • C2, C2S, C4, C4S and the respective cabs - 172
Targas (85)
  • 4, 4S - 58
  • 4S Heritage Design - 17
Turbo's (113)
  • Turbo - 14
  • Turbo Cab - 9
  • Turbo S - 63
  • Turbo S Cab - 27
The biggest surprises to me are the number of Turbo S and that the 718's are overwhelmingly the GTS 4.0 and the GT cars. I don't know how allocation availability and production constraints influenced these numbers. One would think that if demand was high across the board, preferential treatment might be given to the more expensive (and I assume more profitable) high end models.

Looks like the 4-cylinder 718s are not selling well at all (no surprise once the GTS/GT4 got the flat-six back) and especially the Cayman T is a big flop. Wonder if they will reconsider putting a flat-six back in the lower models?

I recall someone produced a spreadsheet for the US cars a few years back. The number of GT3/GT3RS produced was far greater than the base/S/4S models.

And moving forward they've said GT cars won't be constrained and will be produced to meet demand. They're going to make boatloads of 992 GT3s.

Thanks for sharing Steve - I just looked up my 07' Cayman which was kind of cool seeing the original option codes and associated price tags.

Cheers.

Unfortunately that site hasn't been updated in several months. I wouldn't rely on it for 2021 info.

Ah, so is this where folks get the data to compile those build tracking spreadsheets.

That Heritage design Targa seems to be a big hit ..... NOT !!!!

goes to show sometimes rare does not mean its desirable... in fact in some cases its rare because its not desirable.

LOL!!! You do realize that the Heritage Edition is limited to 992 units world wide. Those are the number of cars allocated to Canada, has nothing to do with the demand. My friend waited in line for one at Pfaff, but they were all sold out.
