Default Anyone ever deal with Rivard Competition, QC ??

Just stumbled across Rivard Competition, a Porsche shop in Portneuf, Québec. Anyone know anything about them?

They have a yellow tip 993 that I was interested in, but I didn’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling from them. They have advertised the car for over a year at a decent price, so I think others got the same feeling.

Thanks for the input. I searched them here in the Canadian section, and one member suggested they could do a PPI for someone based here in Toronto who was looking at a car in Quebec.

I figure that a shop recommended for PPI's ought to be OK. But who knows...

Anyone else??

Found out about them maybe a month ago. They have a nice inventory.
I've never dealt with them but have been thinking of stopping by when I do the 138 to Québec City.

Jacques Rivard is a long time porsche guy, I know him from his Lauzon days and racing with his son. Knows his stuff but never dealt with him at his shop directly

I was there about 2 months ago to look at a 993. They had an impressive showroom (contents) and shop. In the shop they had roughly a dozen or so vintage 911’s in various states of restoration and modification, all the way down to bodies on rotisserie, and fully caged race cars.
I would feel confident in dealing with them, to the point that I just bought that 993 that I looked at 2 months ago.

Congrats! More than one 993 in there. Which one?

How were they with price flexibility? I'm looking at a car they have and want to know if they negotiate.

The car I was looking at sold before I could mobilize to purchase it - sorry I can't be more helpful.

I did ask about this shop over at Hunter Motorsports, and he vouched for Rivard...

Thanks for the reply. As we all know buying a car from Quebec the history can be sketchy. That's why I'm looking for a reputable shop.

Between the time I looked at my 993 and then returned to purchase, they had increased the price by $5k (approx 3 mos.). This was summer/fall last year and apparently they keep current on 911 markets haha. But having said that, when I was able to make an offer on the car they did honour the original price of the car, and I was able to buy it for its original listing price. And the car also turned out to be a far better example than I had originally thought!

I was also leery of purchasing a car in QC, and my was a Japanese import with ZERO documentation at that (‘96 911 C2 Euro Spec!). I feel you can certainly trust them and they’re expertise, and they were open to negotiations, but as always exercise due diligence!

Thanks. I spoke to Jacques yesterday and I think I’m going to go see the car in a couple weeks as our Stay at home order ends tomorrow.
I’m doing as much due diligence as I can.

Bump for anyone with recent experience with Rivard. They seem to have some very nice air cooled inventory.

I bought an air cooled with a backdated body done by them. I would say that the quality of the work, kit and paint is sub-par. The 40+ year old OEM paint looks better. In the past I have dealt with them for some repairs with good results but the backdate I bought seems to have been botched. Like the clear coat has drips, the fiberglass screws pulling out, bad. I will steer away from their cars in the future as they are pricey and I have doubts about the quality of their work nowadays.

Thanks for the info. Other than the bodywork, as the car mechanically sound and honestly described? The prices on Autotrader are high but not atrociously so.
