Just got an email informing me that my personal info and car info was hacked...not too happy about that!

 

Me too and also very annoyed. Someone has address and VIN on wife’s Cayenne. Always keep my cars locked and in the garage.

 

I have reported this to Porsche Canada.

We should demand a response from them.

Will advise if anything reported by them.

Really bad stuff, now the criminals know your name, where you live, your VIN number, phone number, license plate number, email address.

Fortunately not blood type or credit card number....

 

Sounds like they have everything they need to go and get a key made.

 

It would be prudent for PCC to institute a requirement for all dealers to insist on confirming any requests for new keys with the owners in person, and not to respond to email or phone confirmations.

 

It didn’t say they had the address..

 

I got the notice also... Was every customer's information compromised?

 

True re the address. That’s a little comforting but not much.

 

An address can be pretty easily obtained by criminals with a phone number and email.....

 

And most criminals have DOT insiders who can find the registered plate address...

 

I liked this part of the notice:

"Out of an abundance of caution, we have implemented additional security measures to reduce any negative impact of the unauthorized access on you, and to prevent a reoccurrence of such an event."

In my mind, that's not an abundance of caution, it's common sense.

 

I assume the “additional security measures” mean posting a guard at each of our doors. Not sure what else would be helpful given that the horse has left the barn and is galloping our way.

 

Maybe Oakville should be offering to change out the ignition keys on the effected customers...
