Turbo shopping

Hi guys, I’ve been lurking here for a while as I do my homework. With spring coming, I’m searching for a 996 or 997 turbo to buy. If any of you are going to post yours for sale soon, let me know please. I don’t mind shipping to Toronto after a PPI of course.
here’s my preference list:
no cabriolet, not black. Stick or auto. Low km (50kish) and clean 996 turbo or a higher mileage 997 turbo. Some mods ok, but need a daily driver, not a track car. If you want to trade for my ATS-V coupe with cash that would be even better.
thanks!

Free bump for you here. I'm interested to see where the market is at. 997 turbos seem to be in the 90's or low 100's. Good condition 996 turbos seem to be 55-75 depending on options. Not quite the value they once were...

I would decide which you want, an auto or a stick. Tough to see how you’d be ambivalent on that!
997 Turbo is probably my favorite turbo. Perfect mix of right size (last one before they got too big), well designed (love 993s but 996 turbos are better cars), and just nostalgic enough but not “full of character”.
if you can justify the price difference between the 997 and 996, I’d go that route. If not, they’re super similar cars and my 996 Turbo was great for me for the 7years I had it. Make sure you get a really really good PPI of course. They’re great bulletproof cars but are costly when things go wrong.

One pro for the 996tt is that I don't believe the current prices will go down picking one up now would probably mean selling for what you paid for it. Can't see that with the 997tt unless its a manual and not a weird color but I still believe they will keep going down but remain a little more expensive then a 996tt.

Id subscribe to the concept that 996TT is more price protected than a 997TT given that the 996s are priced well below how good a car they are and well, the 997 commands a price premium that is exponentially greater than the differences in the cars.

I’ve kept an eye on the 996/997 Turbo market the last few years and found that both models have increased in value a bit. Also they are the last generation(s) of Turbo with a manual transmission. I think the 997 will always be ahead of the 996 based on looks alone.
Both these models will retain their value as long as Porsche keeps charging over 200k for a new one (which they will). Incredible bang for your buck.

In my humble opinion and while window shopping the ads for the 997.1 turbo's that come up for sale for over a year now .....I can say that the proper / magic number for a low kms / clean manual coupe with decent options is $80,000cdn .... Convertibles and PDK less 10k give or take a few grand more for any special options etc. I see many asking 100k but they sit forever for sale with no movement and eventually they wise up and list them for less.
Once you get to a 100k for a 997 you may as well save a bit more cash and then look for a 997 GT3.
Nice ones do come up from time to time but you need to move quickly to get them as the good ones don't last long ....
