Default 25-30t jack of press

I'm in the middle of replacing the pinion bearing in my 996 transmission and got to a point where now I need to either get just a hydraulic jack or a complete hydraulic shop press in the 25-30t range. Need to press off and then back on the pinion shaft gears and this is something that a gear puller is nto strong enough for. I have access to a shop press but the hydraulic jack is missing so at a minimum I would need to get my hands on a jack but if that isn't available then, a complete shop press is needed. Anyone here has one for sale or rent?

Do you mean just a bottle jack to go in a hydraulic press frame? Just pop by TSC...they have a 20 ton for $60 right now. I'd be surprised if you needed more than 20t.

Yes, I'm after either just the bottle jack or an entire shop press. Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out TSC. Ideally would like to get a jack that has a a plate and springs that pull back the cylinder when the pressure is released but maybe one without would work too.

Can also look at princess auto...both are just off homer watson/401 area.

That's probably going to be your cheapest route to just finding the hydraulic cylinder part. It will work without the pullback springs but would be a bit annoying.

Unfortunately I don't have a press in my garage (have most everything else including a lift), otherwise I'd just offer you to come by (I'm in the same area).

I agree, I have the same press, I've done the same job, 12 ton is all you need.

Thanks for all the input. I think I figured out what I'll do. CT has a 20t bottle jack on sale this week for $52. Going to buy one and use the shop press frame that is currently without a jack and give that a shot. Luckily the frame is next door to my father's machine shop so at least I don't have to move it.
