Default Montreal Based Porsche ... question

Someone indicated that purchasing a Montreal / Quebec based Porsche that has been fueled there will not operate the same should he car be fueled in Ontario ? Basically, to avoid purchasing Quebec based Porsche's and bringing them to Ontario as there is some issue with changes of gasoline from province to province ?? Is there any truth to this claim or others ? Tks A

You're kidding right? Have you ever travelled across Canada or US? Whoever told you that has no idea what they are talking about. Some fuel has ethanol in it (mostly in the US) which isn't desirable but not usually in the higher octane. I bring my car all over Ontario, Quebec and various US states to the track. Never had an issue with gas. I try and stick to 94 or 93 highest octane available wherever I go but 91 and above will work.

Don’t forget about Ontario’s air causing combustion issues.

I’ve often wondered how people navigate the provincial borders with all these issues?

A salesperson at Pfaff indicated that P-Cars coming out of Quebec and that have been fueled for years pose issues when coming into Ontario ...no smoke but clearly there is smoke coming from the dealer. It was an honest question.

Not kidding, a salesperson at Pfaff mentioned this and I truly thought it was ridiculous ...! Hence why I posted and now even you guys think I am "nuts"... it came from Pfaff.... and that is beyond what I would have expected. I get protecting ones territory but I found the response crazy.

Wow. That’s crazy.

Just a stupid lie to stop you from buying elsewhere. Sad that they actually think people will believe this kind of nonsense.

No reason for sarcasm.

I think that the information is inaccurate.

The reality is that there is little difference in gasoline in terms of any impact on a Porsche.

There is some variation in terms of ethanol, and this has been dealt with in numerous threads here. In terms of short term impact , nothing.
Older cars may not do well with ethanol, but nothing to do with Quebec,in my view.

Car won’t do well in Ontario not because of the gas, it is because it doesn’t understand English.

Translating into French this reads 'please don't buy a comparable car at a better price from those dealers in Quebec'.....

Go back and tell him you found a better deal from a dealer out west - where the gas is fresh and pure because they get it pumped straight from the well!!!

Man, this is why I got out of the industry. Complete and utter BS.

I will say though that I've bought a few (non-Porsche) cars from Quebec and they've consistently been more problematic, especially with suspension bits and rust - basically showing much more wear and tear than a comparable ON car with the same mileage. I suspect it's because the roads in QC are more poorly maintained than those in Ontario (if that's possible!). Not based in any fact, just suspicion, but I've stopped buying cars from QC.

I suspect it's only a Montreal thing. I was in Quebec City and the roads there are better than Toronto.
