I think you require CAA Plus for any tows across the Atlantic.

I think a "friend" of mine did this before with no issue. Just put on the plates from another car. I think the truck driver may have asked if it is insured, which it is when you buy a used car even if you dont have it registered yet under your name. That was all a decade ago though. I doubt things have changed.

most drivers don't care as long as car looks ok. if missing fenders etc they will have issue.
