Default Winter Storage

It is that time of year again. Let's talk winter storage.

Last year I parked in a back yard garage in the neighbourhood. In years past I have stored at my indy. I have shot an email to Elite Custom Storage.

Any other leads? Do people really store cars in underground condo lots?

When I stored my 993 I used downtown condo parking a few times. Was always one of the cheapest and widely available options

Do you have access to power for a battery tender in a condo parking situation?

Only problem with condo storage is no power and conditions can get extremely dusty.

Correct. I generally keep one of my cars at the condo. Disconnect the battery, put on car cover, forget about it. In the Spring it starts up no problem.

Watch out for the mice particularly in suburban or back yard barns and garages. I’ve had friends that have had under hood fires, costly wiring damage and severely trashed under hood insulation due to mice inhabiting their vehicles. A couple of weeks ago I found a couple of mouse nests in my Waverunner and a chewed up storage cover but fortunately no wiring or physical damage to the machine. I keep it outside in a large commercial tent where I’ve had to get smart and take precautions.

Yeah. Last year I put mouse bait at all four corners and mothballs in the engine bay.

I can't decide if I am just being a cheap bastard looking to save a little $.

I heard car nuts used to jack up the car to prevent flat spot on the tires, anyone know is that still recommended?

No. Just pump the tires to 55lbs. Been doing this for 15 winters without issue.

Sportscar Boutique is renting heated storage space with in and out privileges. Kijiji is a good spot to find parking. Lots of guys renting condo spots.

I may have storage space available in the 410/Derry road area in Mississauga. Heated unit and alarm.
Not 100% sure if we will go this route to rent out space, but possibility. ~3000Sq/ft of space for vehicles.
