Do any of you have experience buying your porsche from another dealer in different city? (e.g., Buy from Pfaff/toronto, or Calgary) and ship it to Vancouver after? How does tax work in this case? Sorry if this question have been asked many times. I have a Ontario drivers license but will spend more time in Vancouver going forward so wondering should I get 1 in toronto or Vancouver. thanks!

Your gonna pay the GST either way. 5%
The only thing different will be the additional PST. 8% in Ontario vs 7% in BC
But. Here's the big but. BC has that wonderful "luxury car tax" that you need to look into.

On new, pricing won’t be any different and you also lose the connection to your local dealer that can really help out and make the service/warranty work experience that much better. (Goodwill fixes, etc)
Used is a different story given inventory differences.

You guys are right. Probably makes sense to buy local (I am aiming to go down to base model given tax now to keep it below 1250000. Still can get access to track days, events, etc.... Too bad the c2s model just got pass $125000. Not sure if I want to pay the extra 5% tax on top of the ~20000 dollar different

I'm in Toronto, car was written off then found one in Calgary. Bought it and had it shipped to Downtown Porsche (where original car was purchased). they couldn't have been more helpful. They took care of cleaning it up and licensing. I paid the tax when I picked it up. There were a couple of small details that were missed and Calgary dealer took care of it instantly. They were great. It was absolutely seamless and Downtown treated me as though I had purchased car from them so I wouldn't worry about buying out of province.

I believe that no matter where you buy the vehicle from, you have to pay the taxes of your residential Province. Then to have it shipped from Ontario to Vancouver is about $1700. A friend just did this last spring, from Vancouver to Ottawa.

Yes it does not matter where you buy the car. The amount of tax is based on where you register and plate the car.
If you plate it in BC be prepared to pay the highest taxes.

There are a few unsold 992s in Toronto right now. Won't be released until Sept 12 (official launch) or when recalls have been dealt with.

Do you have a trusted Porsche salesperson in Vancouver?
My friend runs Dilawri’s BC operation (of which is a Porsche store). I could ask him for a recommendation on a trusted sales rep for you.

People here either pay the tax or do super short term leases so that they only pay the higher tax ranges on the delta between the ranges.
Vancouver has incredible cars everywhere. They’re almost all leased. And almost all driven by some teenager. 95% of them have L or N stickers on the back showing that they don’t have full licenses yet!
its ruined the perception of having a McLaren or something like that to me - they’re everywhere here.

Plenty of money has flowed into Vancouver from certain countries and whole lot of people have become millionaires with sky rocketing housing prices. MB/BMW are the new Civics in the lower mainland.
