The brakes warning light is telling me I need pads. I am planning to replace the rotors at the same time.

Have a look at see if the pads look thin. If the are then the sensor is accurate. I had false brake pad warnings on some of my cars because the sensor connectors had corrosion.

i would at least check out prices on rockauto for brakes.... you'd be surprised if you can combine shipping...

it's a 9yr old family hauler ....

most online places in Canada only carry Zimmerman/pagid etc....

I found brake pads on clearout there for $10, maybe $17cdn after shipping for rears on the q7... seemed to work fine for the time we had it....(it was a dieselgate and heading back to audi)

----
I ordered brake pads/rotors for street use on all 4 corners on my '01 Boxster S from rockauto... $401cdn after taxes, shipping to my door. I have noisy brake pads to use on the track that I swap in and out.

I just did the wife's Outback brakes for under $500 from Rockauto. This was a premium package and all went well with the install. Stops better than the OEM.
1/2 the cost was shipping.
BTW I find out after there is always a promo code for 5% off.

Wow rockauto has crazy package prices! But how do I know which of the 10+ packages for my car is the right one??

This has been my real challenge. I'm not worried about the DIY, more so about what items to order for the job.

It's a daily driver Cayenne S that is driven city and hwy.

I wouldn't worry too much about brand of disc but you can read reviews on the pads for dust, stopping power etc. I think I used trw on my old Touareg. I just checked and got the hardware kit (with bolts) for $27 from germanoem.ca (Jason). I suggest spending the extra 27

for street cars, I typically go for ones with low dust as a feature... I hate brake dust on wheels... If you live in downtown TO, I'd get low dust... every corner seems to be an alway stop when I visit my sisters in the Yonge/Lawrence area....

you could go for the 90533039 centric package (front and rear) for $446cdn tax and shipping included to my Ontario Postal code.... then you have pads/rotors on the shelf for when the time comes to do the rears...

(but I'm price conscious.... - you also need to know if your vehicle takes 350 or 330mm front rotors)

I'm 330mm. I think i'd just get the fronts now. I'm conscious of the cost of money.
