Default Alignment in GTA

Is MVS Motors still the place to go for alignment? I have an old 997 that needs one. Porsche North Toronto wants $447.50 plus tax

Pat @ Altech 416.231.1611 is one of the best alignment shops in the GTA. He is a car guy and owns laser precision equipment.

Independent Tuning has the equipment to do it. They're close to MVS. No affiliation but saw it when I was in there last.

I am sure they could install components (shocks, springs, etc). I don't think they are set up to corner balance.

yeah i think if they dont ask you what your intended use for the car is and talk about your driving style, it would not be the place for my 911. 911s ( well at least the older ones ) can have drastically different setups and behave differently depending on the alignment.

Most shops will just " zero it out " ie put it in the middle of the factory spec. Not the place for me. When i got my car 14 years ago i told the guy i was coming from a 944 and was not accustomed to rear engine cars and was concerned about off throttle oversteer as basically you can throw a 944 into a corner and go around sideways and still have total control.
he set it up and i went on my way. I wasn't until years later that i drove someone elses same car set up for the track that i saw the difference an aggressive alignment can have.

I agree with iceman. Pat is a good guy and probably does a good job on most makes.

However, he did not notice my tie rod ends on their way out and could not center my steering wheel properly.

They did the alignment to my specs, which included much negative camber.

Based on the way the car is riding, they did a better job than the Porsce specialty shop where I got my last alignment, and at half the price.

Had an appointment with Pat last Saturday. The alignment was done within an hour. Pat showed me the result (before and after) and I paid $90. Multiple times cheaper than Porsche North Toronto or Downtown Porsche.

Thanks again for the referral.
