ah the end said it all, i just could not imagine this car being faster than those Audi R10 LMP1 cars of a few years ago ..

fastest lap by a production car makes more sense.

Forgot to mention that its production car category.

Lap record is held by the R10 TDI, mind boggling.

Greg you and I were there watching the R10 TDIs when they set the record. , they were whipping around that track in about a minute, and quiet as a mouse too.

1967 Canadian F1 GP at Mosport

Lotus drivers Jim Clark and Graham Hill were fastest in qualifying in the new Ford-Cosworth DFV V8 powered 49s and they shared the front row of the grid with World Championship leader Denny Hulme, driving a Brabham BT24-Repco. Clark captured pole position with a time of 1m22.4.

Yes we were there, 1:04

I think though 1:22 is not the fastest that car can lap CTMP, I think he over braked 1,3 9 and 10. 2 could have entered a bit quicker but not that far off. Coming out of 5 it dipped down to 80 kph seemed to me about 10 kph too slow.

Getting the exit of 5 correctly... yes, in my old 7.GT2, I hit 166mph at the end of that straight, just getting that corner (5) exit correctly is worth 2 seconds. Being slow between 5a and 5b is quicker, than the perceived exit speed of 5c, need to exit on the throttle.
