Default source for slotted rotors - canada

Looking for suggestions for slotted rotors in Canada to fit a 2001 Boxster S.

I believe the fronts are the same as the plain 996, the rears are maybe vehicle specific to the S model.

The ones I've seen seem to be much more expensive than the stock cross drilled ones...

Apparently, cross drilled rotors can crack when used on the track.... I plan about 10 hrs of track driving over 4-5 events this year...

By the time you crack the drilled ones they will be toast anyway,

I have had a few set of premium drilled rotors. Used them for street and a few track days. Never had a cracking issue.
I have bought one set of slotted rotors. I didn't like the sound of them, while under braking. A buzz, as the pads hit the slots.
Germanparts.ca has drilled rotors from $175-225 front. https://germanparts.ca/parts/porsche...scs-pads-front
and $165 rear. https://germanparts.ca/parts/porsche...iscs-pads-rear
I have done 5-6 sets of brakes out of there. Good quality, fair pricing.
I have also bought out of Johnsone research. https://www.jrponline.com/
Their website is difficult to navigate. I needed new rotors for my STi. Factory was 649/corner and 250 for pads. JRP had a DBA rotor on my desk for 100/corner.

My stock rotors are not cracked yet, and barely above the 24mm threshold.... I am due for replacement soon.

I did 5 or so events last year at Grand Bend, with 1 or 2 of them with track pads...

I've had the ATE slotted rotors on a CRV and do recall them making a different sound under hard braking.... didn't bother me too much... My track pads can get quite loud.

I do not know if my level of track driving this year or next will warrant getting slotted over the more readily available and probably cheaper crossdrilled rotors.

I can get DBA slotted rotors for $200cdn from Perry in Quebec - the slotted pattern looks cool on them.

They have oem style Bremson for $80/ each

Local distributor (import auto) has
sebro slotted fronts and rears for about $192 each. - week lead time.

Unless you are driving at very advanced level or overbraking as a beginner, the drilled disks should last you a while. What track pads you are using also determine the amount of wear, some are harder on the rotors. If you find you are using a lot of brakes I also suggest looking into some cooling to reduce wear. In past I got disks from rock auto in US. Also may want to consider FCPEuro if you plan to wear out the rotors, as they do free replacement.

I am using Hawk DTC60 pads front and rear on my boxster S.... I have only used them for a couple events... I do not know how my rotors are reacting to them.... I got the car in 2009 with just under 70K km on it, currently at about 145K km... still same rotors... I did measure the thickness on the fronts and remember getting between 24.1 and 24.4mm, so they are near end of life.

I am a slow driver in the novice group....For every person I get a chance to pass, I would have been passed by 3-4 other drivers.

I suggest go stock although the Hawk pads I believe are hard on the rotors. I don't think you need this but you also can have the rotors cryogenically frozen to extend life.
btw the rotors are easy to change yourself on your car.

I ordered pagids for the front and raybestos rotors for the rear. standard cross drilled replacements... Got some street pads (StopTech) as well as mine are almost done.

$400cdn with discount code delivered . Should arrive next Tuesday....

I decided I would be better to wear out rotors than pads... the Hawk pads cost me over $500 last August.

Rock Auto.....

More selection than what I could find from cdn sources, and still cheaper to my door than me driving into town to pick some up from a distributer....

Brake rotors are really expensive items to ship... no real brakes(pun intended) to try to combine shipping etc. Maybe due to weight? dunno....

Unfortunately, not much data on the Pagid Rotors...I'll have to do a review....
