Ya and I don't need a Golf snow plow. My street is always the last to get cleared.

Cool, glad you are enjoying it. The dealer is delivering the car to my house this afternoon, can't wait.

And the old SAAB left for her new home last night.

So far I really like the R. Still trying to get used to all the tech. LOL

I have a set of H&R sport springs the dealer took off, if any other R owner wants them. $200

Drove my friend's 17 R up and down the mountain near Vancouver. It's a pretty good DD. I don't love the shifter and clutch setup, it has no feel at all, but other than that, it's got good power and practicality! Glad u like the car.

I drove a stick as well and did not like it. The auto (DSG) is in my opinion the best choice on the R, in manual mode it is a blast to drive.

OP, if you're interested, I have an APR intercooler, downpipe, cf intake and diverter valve for sale. You just need to do the stage 2 tune and you have yourself a 400+hp dd.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to leave this car stock for now. But OMG that would be one hell of a DD.

Just a little update. 5000km's on the car so far and I'm mostly happy.

A couple of weeks ago I was putting on my winter wheels and painting the rotor hats. I found the front left brake rotor loose since the centering screw had broken off in the hub some time in the past, all 4 wheels were over torqued as well. I also found the flat kit missing the sealing pouch and the compressor was busted. And this was certified by VW Burlington.

Now the car has a failing rear wheel bearing, not a big deal as it is going to be replaced under warranty. VW Oakville is just waiting for the part to come in and they have been really good spending extra time yesterday to diagnose it. But during their inspection they found that all 4 of my 19" wheels are slightly bent. When I got the car it was not overly smooth on the highway, which I wrongly assumed was the cheap Chinese tires that are on it.

So long story short never buy a car without a detailed PPI. I'm sure an inspection would have found these issues. But in the end I still like the car so will have it sorted and move on.

I'm working with the selling dealer on the cost to fix all 4 of the wheels, but to be honest after reading multiple complaints on the interwebs about others having bent wheels I may just get a set of 18" GTI rims in the spring and sell the 19" sledge hammers. LOL

Reviving old thread -
Adamant1971/Nacelle - any update on the longer term ownership?
I traded my 07 A8 for a 2019 grey Golf R with black package - this included the dreaded 19" pretoria's, but after 1500km and direct spring pothole hits I'm still good (knock on wood).

All 4 of my wheels were bent from the P.O. had them repaired at Union rim, and since then I have done 6 months of commuting into the city with no issues or new bends in the wheels.

In January the steering rack failed and was replaced under warranty. 2nd replacement rack for the car. I extended the warranty and it was worth it. Lol

Love the car, one of the best daily drivers I have ever had.

I have 75k on it now.
