The destruction was necessary "to show to the world that we have a viable place of investment and business." I don't get it, how does crushing cars accomplish this goal? Even if they were obtained by criminals using drug money, why destroy them?

It is not about President Duterte showing his power, it is about sending a message to the drug traffickers. Pity he has chosen to crush the cars, could have simply confiscated and sold them at auction. His call....
