Robot Racing - is this the future?
From the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, classic F1 cars line up with the RoboRace car...for those that don't know RoboRace is a spec racing series where the differentiation in the cars (they're electric) is the software algorithms running on board the vehicle. The Roborace car ran the hill climb course with no human intervention at all. Despite what you may think the aero on the roborace is quite something to look at....

Seems pointless.

Sadly there is a fairly large and growing audience in e-sports and drone racing , likely this would be a natural progression of that (way down the road possibly of tracks too crazy and unsafe for human occupants)
We are already at the point with fighter jets that the limitations in capability are due to human pilots and the limitations we have to withstand g forces.....isn’t hard to imagine the same to be true at some point with cars.

Lets face it ,,,,,,,,that is just a larger version of RC Racing Cars ..........................some how I wouldnt expect it to attract the sort of sponsors seen in F1 ,,,Nascar and other popular forms of motor sport

Not sure, last I read there were some e-sports competitions had $20 million in prize money and approximately 300 million viewers worldwide and growing. So an audience is certainly there.
Also from a racing perspective, some sim racing champions have made the jump into real racing and have been picked up by genuine racing teams says there might be something to it in the future.

On the F! track I see they are looking at 360 cameras on the cars to enable you to 'ride along' with Hamilton or Vettel as they race - now that will be worth watching!

I watched the Montreal race and even Dario couldn't save it. They had to give away half the tickets after pissing away $20 million in government subsidies. Due to this disaster, Montreal bailed on future events. It's gonna be a tuff sell.
