CTMP IMSA & Porscheplatz
Beauty day to take in some qualifying and racing.
With a Porscheplatz ticket, you got to park your car in the Porsche paddock. They provided lunch and non alcoholic drinks (you can bring your own). Nice vantage point as well to watch the race directly across from the pits.

Day 2 at CTMP IMSA & Porscheplatz.
Awesome day at the track again. Porscheplatz started off with cars & coffee, 3 spirited parade laps, food, presentations by Mobil 1, Michelin, silent & open auctions.
Even an performance by the Highland Creek Pipe Band fronted by Pipe Major and Stanley Cup Champion Glenn Healy.
Overall a great day and great experience.

Great weekend. We were at BMW Corral all weekend. My friend took his RV and it parked by turn 4. The atmosphere was great on Fri/Sat night, we totally missed the parade laps Sunday AM thanks to many beers and British GP

I was inspecting turn two. It has changed a lot. It used to be such a death trap.
looking at it now, who would put a concrete wall like that at the bottom of a hill on the apex of a turn. This was a sad day in 85 when i was there.

Turn 2 is very daunting just to look at in person...
I remember the Winkelhock accident (reading about it in the papers, was not at the race). Very sad. My son and I were walking around the turn 2 area on Saturday and I told him a bit about that and how the track back then just went from track to grass to wall.
As for this weekend, my son and I were there both days. I did not go for the Porscheplatz, so we set up at various vantage points around the track. Really enjoyed the racing.
The absolute best part for me was the sound of the RSRs.... They really sounded different from the other cars. The V8s (e.g. 'Vettes) were also exciting to listen to, but those RSRs really did the business for me. They looked like the fastest of the GTLM, but the timing of the last caution period was great luck for the Ford and it sounds like Pilet may have made a bit of an error overtaking some slower cars which gave the two 'Vettes the chance to pounce. Still, a great day of racing and congrats to all.
Thank you for the pictures wc11!

You are correct about the RSRs when they went WOT in turn 1, they had the best sound and also loudest. Vettes during caution laps were loudest coming in to the turn at low speeds.
The Turner BMW was sooooo quiet, could mistake it for E car......bad advertisement for Akra!

Pretty much all the forced induction cars are silent these days, including racecars.
My buddy and I managed to turn some laps on roadbikes Saturday after 6. Lots of fun, the elevation is nuts on a bike Vs car
