Talking Quickjack at Costco

Hello all,
I was wondering through Costco in Peterborough and what did I see? Three Quickjack 5000SLX units. $1199.00. Canadian! I grabbed one. Two left at my local store. If anyone is looking for one, not sure how long they will be there.

Online at costco.ca for 1299 and free shipping. Basically $100 for shipping which seems fair.

It is available to order again, but on back order until June.

If anyone has ever has a 981 (or similar) up on one, I'd love to to see some close up photos of where I should be putting it, once mine comes in. (Thanks!)

Damn, that is a good deal. Doesn't go quite low enough to get under my track S2000 without driving onto planks or something first though, so I'm not sure it'd end up saving much time compared to jacking normally.

Actually, this is confusing: https://www.quickjack.com/quickjack-...ing-guide.html

This page says that with the small block the collapsed height is 3.8". It also says that you need some space between the collapsed jack with block and the lifting point of the vehicle. But it ALSO says that the 5000SLX is appropriate for vehicles with ground clearance at the lifting point >= 3.5" (mine's like 3.48"). Seems contradictory.

It should work for your S2000- the collapsed height is around 3" for the 5000slx. If the height to the lift points is 3.5" you should be ok.

Go into the Costcos- I picked up one at the Guelph store for $1199- only one there though.

I like it- currently have the car up on it getting some loving. Was looking to get a scissor lift but the QJ does ok. I will use cribbing to go higher if I need to- current height is creeper friendly and still has good access from the top. Definitely doesn't replace a proper lift though- but my current situation puts a proper lift out of the question. Car is very stable- not worried about it at all- and a lot better than equivalent on jack stands.

I wrote to Quickjack and got a response that I would need a minimum height of 4.5" at the lift points. You can't run it without the rubber blocks, so the effective collapsed height is 3.8". So I could do it by driving onto 2x4s, but at that point it's almost as easy to jack it onto stands (which I already have ). Ah well, I don't really need an excuse to spend more money.
