I am curious if anyone knows what dealers are offering as trade value on 2016 GT4's these days, with the new manual GT3's getting delivered and presumably some of those taking delivery are trading in GT4's. Are people seeing under-MSRP trade values being offered? Many US cars are now advertised for sale under MSRP, both private sale and through dealers, but no idea how long that will take to trickle 'up' to Canada. Of course dealer listings here are still way over MSRP even on cars with sofas.
I would seriously consider a GT4 with LWBS if I can find a low spec (under $110k) car for MSRP (as I am sure many would). I'd be happy to do it through a dealer as well so that the buyer still gets the tax advantage (I would hopefully have a buyer for my Turbo and do the same thing).
Any leads or connections would be much appreciated.
Chris, I don't think you'll see it even with manual GT3's arriving. There's more demand for GT4's then most people think and it's the demand allowing dealers to command these premiums. A friend was offered high 120's wholesale for his...a month ago.
Guys who didn't get a manual GT3 will opt for a GT4 in some instances as there's only ~250 GT3's built for Canada so far...of which 48% are PDK cars.
Msrp was $96,500 in Canada. Buckets were a $5400 option. A 110k driver spec build could have buckets, full leather, bose and pdls lights with a few extra small options added as well.
The blue gt4 at PNT has a 109k msrp with lwbs and leather interior. But they are asking 129k
Given current FX rates, they are maybe 10k too expensive here (should be about 120k instead of 130k). At 110k, a US buyer is looking at 87k + fees, haven't seen any listed that cheap in the classifieds.
It's typically the other way around, from my experience. Dealers look at what the selling prices are in the US, then mark their cars @ the equivalent of buying a car in USD, add FX, add 6.1% duty. A $90k smoking deal in the US nets out to $122k CAD before hst, which is right in line with where dealers here are priced.
The GT4 was a better 'value' when new in Canada. $96500 MSRP vs $85k or so in USA. So when Canadian dealers strategically price their cars to match the US cars after FX and duty, the asking prices are WELL above canadian msrp. Sucks.

Cam, thanks for the datapoint. Any idea what his MSRP was? High 120's is huge for wholesale I would think, considering the most expensive GT4 for sale in Canada is $142k (Jamie's old PTS green with PCCB and a ton of other exclusive options).
What about the transmission failures on the GT4? I'd be concerned, otherwise fabulous cars.
To that, I would say every modern Pcar has had some inherent design flaw. IMS bearings, cylinder scoring, coolant fittings, spun cams, etc... Considering that all GT4's are still under warranty, it wouldn't bother me.

23 for sale on autotrader.ca right now and it’s snowing. Should be some negotiating room there! Vancouver market $$. Further east = hungrier dealers is my feeling.
Those GT4's are like stainless steel Daytona of Rolex's; they will not be sold for much less than MSRP.
The GT4's is such a good package for the money (IMO Porsche has priced them too low), there are always more demand than supply on the used market. Also, there are a larger crowd who can afford the GT4 compare to those who can afford a GT3, and that is why I think the GT4 will hold even better money than a GT3.
