993 Turbo at Mark Motors
#31
Interested to see what it sells for, will add my 5cents when it does.
I love the ride in a 993. Great grand tourer/daily friendly driver.
I wanted a 993TT back in 2012 when low mile could be had for 150k cdn. (60,000km and under)
But then the market drove the car up to 200-250k cdn and i was out. Not what id pay for something i wanted to drive and enjoy. 250k becomes a garage queen. TT is not my kind of garage queen. Too good of a road car to be parked as a collector.
Cdn 993TT market for low mile cars has been asking 225-255k cdn. And they are still sitting in dealer showrooms. One of them should have taken my offer 2 years ago for 200k. They still have it and cant shake it for the 250k ask.
I wouldnt want it for 200k today. I wouldnt use it as much as i wanted to seeing the value.. Perhaps a great sunday driver for somebody, but not me.
Shame to see them parked.
Great drivers today are $150-200k.cdn.
I still recall when they were only $80k not too long ago which has kept me from jumping into one i suppose. They spiked in value too fast. Almost bubble fast.
If to have just one 911 in the garage, the 993TT is not a bad choice.
Excellent 911 IMO.

Love the car, but at that price I'd still buy my 991.2 Turbo S instead. I know it's not as iconic or whatever, but .... 4 year warranty, bluetooth pairing, plays MP3/AAC/FLAC on my card, Burmester sound, 580hp etc. etc. The prices for some of these 993s are almost sad, because the cars won't be driven much as a result.

The one thing I will add the 993 is one of those cars if one has some DIY skills plenty of maintenance can be easily done. As well there is an abundant amount of info right here on RL too - event documented engine rebuilds.
Though don't be fooled it's an old air cooled car and things need to be replaced over time - example suspension components etc. And while values have gone up so have the parts too.
However the overall build quality is superior, example it doesn't contain a lot of the interior plastic components found in newer cars.

That's not maintenance, in my mind. Your original question was "MAINTENANCE". Your points above are VERY valid, but to me, those fall in the category of repairs. That's why you have to buy a well sorted car from the beginning. Sorry, I’m not trying to split-hairs, or be pedantic, I’m just trying to be accurate with a response. Yes, you need an engine refresh…..figure $15K easy. But after that, for many years, it’s just tires, oil, fluids, and filters (cabin, engine air, and fuel) to keep it running very well. Not unlike newer Turbos. And many Turbos don’t need an engine re-fresh for over 80-100 miles.
