Vern1 - get rid of it as soon as you can, even if you have to loose your 299 for that extra month. Depending on your leasing company, they may want that car back before the warranty is up, for their certified kia refurbishment program?
At least no one can tell you have no soul? At least for the winter

I have no skin in this game since I think it's sold and I don't care either way. But I think the R is a pretty good grown ups car with tune and short shift.

I suppose you could get a used boxster or 911 for the same price and that would be pretty cool too.

Think I found a good candidate for a Golf R.

I'm still leaning towards the Rs

Fiesta ST with snow tires. Monster car, cheap to buy, cheap to run.

It will go back asap in the spring. It was just the shortest term that made sense

I agree that R is more mature than RS with its boy racer look.

Boxter and 911 is out of question as I already Alfa 4c as a toy. just looking for a daily with 4 doors that can accommodate a baby seat and a seat for my wife occasionally.

All are solid choices. Just curious, why do have WRX as "not likely"?

I vote WRX. Slap some snows on and it's awesome.
I drove a friends R, but it was DSG and just didn't do it for me, maybe the manual would be better.

I just picked up a 991.1 3.4 as my beater.

Should be fun...

It'll beat pretty much anything on the road throughout the winter.
