So I'm on Ultra 94 and have felt absolutely no difference whatsoever in daily driving and spirited driving other than slightly lower gas mileage...

You need to datalog. I couldn't tell the difference between Shell V91 and Ultra 94 but the car certainly does. I was running V91 because of the zero ethanol but it was pulling so much timing that I figured the ethanol in the ultra 94 was worth it.

i've had no issues with any of the 91 octane gasoline... I use it in my boxster and motorcycle.

My motorcycle only requires 87 octane, but I switched to 91 a couple years back because of possible ethanol corrosion.

'01 Boxster S
'00 Honda VFR800.

99% of the time it's Cdn Tire 91 Octane or diesel in our vehicles... $0.10 off per L if your balance is over $2000, I think $0.08 off per L if between $1200-1999.

We probably purchase 350-400L of diesel and 100L of premium per month during fairweather.

Personally i think modern cars are designed to run ethanol gas. So just run whatever gives you best performance for your money.

Older air cooled cars have to be more careful. I don’t worry about driving with ethanol but won’t store my car with it.

Any ideas when Ethanol additions became the norm for North American gas?

I understand, I wonder if anyone here has the datalog numbers on a 991.1 3.4L using 91...

No data logging but one track day I decided to try PC and my lap times were off by at least 1-2 seconds. Just not as much power on the long straights. Quite a surprise because I was expecting to kick *** with my new secret weapon.

From what i understand, at Calgary’s altitude, higher octane is somehow less effective. And ethanol has less heat value / power than dino juice. Back to shell for the next track day and times were back where they belonged. Plus wife likes the air miles...

But the best of all worlds would be if Chevron moved their 94 east from BC to Alberta. Real gas. Where I live, you can sit at a red light watching highway traffic go by and it’s: ferrari, lambo, porsche, porsche, porsche, honda, ferrari, maserati, porsche, bentley...

Anyway, fermented products belong in my glassware, not my gas tank.

Monkey Wrench
Its been suggested to me by a Reliable Source that in Ontario Esso produces 65% of all the gas. Therefore, when when the gas stations tanks run dry who's gas are we getting?

V91 or Esso?
With gas prices bouncing around again, stations are likely carrying low stock.
The gas comes from the same place right?
So a she;ll station says I am Low > Need a Delivery NOW
Whose gas are we getting?

And yes I read the turbo folks posts, u can data log
I have a 993 and for the remainder how would ya know?

Slightly off topic. We have a BMW 328D Touring and use Shell V Power Diesel.....is this a waste? Will " normal" diesel do?
Experts, please chime in.
Thanks

My daily driver requires 93 octane (turbocharged) and runs significantly better on V91 vs P94.

The old p-car only gets ethanol free gas to protect the old fuel system from corrosive ethanol.

And I like double dipping with my Amex & Airmiles card on each fill up.
yall know a bit of Ethanol is good for turbo chargedcars right?

Take a drive to south western ontario. Most of the crops are corn, with a little soy. That's why most gasolines have ethanol
