Petrocan Walker's and Upper Middle has a great touchless with a full 90 seconds of dryer time, so that's my choice.

My daily driver requires 93 octane (turbocharged) and runs significantly better on V91 vs P94.

The old p-car only gets ethanol free gas to protect the old fuel system from corrosive ethanol.

And I like double dipping with my Amex & Airmiles card on each fill up.

I use Shell for the same reason outlined above - no Ethanol!!!

Once in a while, I'll use Ultra94 if I know that I'm going to burn through most of the tank in a weekend (e.g. road trips and track days).

Jay Leno has a really good video on the damage that ethanol can do to cars if you let it sit around (even for short periods of time). See below:

interesting, didn't know ethanol caused issues other than poorer gas mileage. I'll fill up with Shell and see how it goes. Only reason I got to Petro is because of the 93 requirement.

Yup, Vpower 91 sans ethanol hands down, where possible.

For track, 94 will do, it's not a long-term relationship at a tank or more a day... really doesn't matter.

I go through a ton of fuel, V91 and P91/94 work near identically on buttdyno, datalogs correspond.
Best fuel is fresh fuel

Glad to see others using 91.

Used it in my 1M without a single issue.

I just got a 2015 3.4 and received conflicting recommendations from the techs at Oakville Porsche.

I use 94 100% of the time in my car.
Never had an issue finding it yet.. but wouldn't be to concerned if/when I do.

A lot of subjective opinions always come up when this question gets asked, on any car forum.

I datalogged Shell V-power 91 and Petro Canada Ultra94 on my 2008 turbo, to see if I could determine which fuel my car liked best. On the stock tune, my car pulls timing on Shell 91 and the knock sensors pick up a lot of activity.

My car runs much, much better on Ultra 94 - not from seat of the pants or opinion, just based on the actual data I've logged. Significantly less knock detected during datalogging.

I've done the same datalog comparison using my stage 2 tune @ 20.5psi (factory tune is 17 psi). Same results, Ultra 94 much better according to the datalogs.

I can't speak for naturally aspirated cars but modern turbos should be running the highest octane you can get!

My Turbo S did this on Canadian Tire 91 (all gasoline, btw) and everything else stock right down to the tire pressures and the tools still in the frunk. The cars spun the 1/2 shift and briefly fell on its face in "restricted chassis control".

2008 Turbo, stock tune, Petro 94:

Shell 91 v-power:

https://datazap.me/u/cstyles/shell-9...24-25-26-27-28

The knock sensor data is overlaid on top of engine RPM. You can select all sorts of data at the bottom to add to the graph. You can see how much less knock activity is occurring with 94 (10% ethanol) vs V-power 91 (ethanol-free).

Cheers

Not sure if this is accurate but it's a guide for those concerned about boozy gas in their car:

where to fine Ethanol free gas in Ontario

Wouldn't all Shell gas stations carry Ethanol free gas?

What did you use to log this data? I love this kind of stuff.
