My wife bought my SubC last year, 20% off MSRP (think it was 8600 for no date) from a MTL AD though I had a relationship with the owners. As of a few months ago they are no longer carrying Rolex anymore (Rolex wanted an unrealistic investment in the store).

You can only save tax in Alberta if you are physically there to purchase.

There's more to that story. It seems majority of past Ad's that lost Rolex was due to being caught discounting. Seems like a lot of you guys got some good discounts on professional models recently. Over on CWC Rolex discount discussions are pretty much non existent because no one is really giving them now...

This rumor has been around forever. I don't know a single AD in Canada who lost their Rolex deal in the last few years for giving discounts. I do know a few who chose to stop being ADs because they didn't want to invest the money to set up the mini in store boutiques Rolex has begun mandating. If you want a discount, you can easily get one on pretty much anything other than a steel Daytona. Even on CWC, there are Rolex deals to be had.

Bought a steel Daytona and received 15 percent off with an ask. Had recently bought wife a datejust from same dealer, so sure that helped.

any leads on used swiss watches? Are you worried about fakes?

Don't have a Rolex, but when I was young and stupid, without kids and living at home, I did get a new Tag Heuer 1500 series near the end of university... still have it today. Cost me about $1200 in 1994 Cdn pesos.

pic of the watch (mine has a little more paint missing)

I've seen the same watch in cosmetically better condition for under $300 on ebay....

Nowadays, no desire to spend any money on a wristwatch...

There are reputable pre-owned jewelers that do this in the GTA. Rolex have serials and can be easily verified. I wouldn't be worried about a fake from one of them.

This is exactly why they pulled the plug in this case.

Some ADs have a wait-list for the 116610LN . You'd be surprised at its soaring popularity.

Yeah, but they're easy to find on CWC and TRF.

I've bought a few used watches off of Timezone.com. There must be some bad stories out there, but a lot of people selling watches there are big jewellery stores trying to offload trade-ins, or really wealthy people that tire of watches after a couple months.

Also, Jomashop has legitimate inventory, and is often selling at a material discount. Plus, USD...

You could also look internationally. Prices might be cheap enough somewhere to pay for the trip + savings.

I still like that Breitling suggestion. Rolex's are way to ubiquitous.
