Anyone coming to mosport pca club race on august 4th?
Unfortunately, we're only 66 racers registered.
It would be nice to see a few of us and talk to you about club racing.
You can see about the registered cars here:

I have often wondered about club racing .
is it self funded by those racing ? for example is it funded by the 66 people there ? or do those 66 people use club money paid by the couple of thousand members ?
ie lets go racing and use someone elses money to do it. !!
im just generally curious how it works .

Some events are more popular with 250 racers like sebring and watkins glen.
We also have a lot of volunteers.
I cant tell you more if the club is break even or not...

You just need to start with a large fortune.

from my days as PCA director the club race usually loses overall a few thousand dollars. It puts our club and track on the map and is a lot of fun. The club also has to pay a lot of the expensed up front months in advance so that is an issue but the club has lots of money.

the issue really is the club money raised by everyone is used by the few wealthy who can afford to go racing. doesn't matter how much the club has. My personal opinion is the cost should be borne out by the competitors. maybe cost of club advertising at the event, but that is all.
Would be nice to see the club p and L statements like we used to years ago...hmmm I know just who to ask ...
Anyway I was just wondering . don't want to turn this into a huge sh!tfest

Cant figure it out in my own french words hehe
I can tell you that racers are really passionate, but i will speak for myself.
You can jump in club racing for "cheap'" by buying a used race car, like a sp2 and spb that cost way less than a gtb1 cayman or cup car.
Lot of people are on a budget and some arent.
You have to find your own spot that you re comfortable in.
Its like anything in life.
Started racing made be a much better driver.
I dream one day to jump in a pro race as an amateur driver. Cause i just love too much racing.

I was just saying the years I was there, I think it lost maybe 3k one year and broke even the next. The goal was to break even for most events. I am pretty sure it may have made money some years as well. It is not a large cost to the club. The picnic is the big cost event for the club I believe.

i might swing by to watch. looks like fun but guaranteed i will spend some money learning to drive before wheel to wheel racing. we go to Cayuga Wed nights in the summer about 6 times a year. Costs $100 per car and rung what you brung. no tech, no real rules other than 'be a gentleman'.
