For something a little different....

For a few years now, we've been doing a hillclimb with our local SCCA region. Located just outside of Robbinsville, NC, Maple Springs Road is a dead end road in the Joyce Kilmer National Forest area.

The road is bumpy....REALLY BUMPY... as you can see from the video...

We ran our 914 "Huey" that has a stock 3.2 engine, stock 901 trans, and Koni Adjustable shocks. Other than safety equipment and fender flares, its pretty much just a street car....

The new shocks made a world of difference. Adjusted soft, I picked up 5 seconds from my previous fastest ever time!! Ended up 9th overall in a field of about 45-50 cars. Every car above me except one was a full hillclimb/Time Trial/race car...so I'm pretty happy with the results: I got first and Nadine got second in GT2 class.

Oh...and this is all Cory Friedman's fault! He encouraged us to do this and now we're hooked. He USED TO own the Mountain Record, but it was broken two years ago by a guy in a spec racer. Gotta come back Cory!
