Hoosiers Leak Air?
I bought my first set of Hoosiers after running a variety of other R-Comp tires. After storing the set over the Winter in an attached garage I found the the rear tires had 0# air pressure and the fronts about 10#. They were mid to high 20s when stored after my last event in October. Is this typical for Hoosiers? When I ran bias ply Goodyear slicks in the 70s you could see air bubbling through the sidewalls when wet and you had to add air every morning. Do Hoosiers do the same thing?

yes to one degree or another.

Bill, this is not uncommon with Hoosiers. I had the same experience this winter with a set that was mounted and left in a heated garage. All four lost pressure. You need to be vigilant about checking them. I had two R7's blow out on me last year. Different batch of tires at different tracks. The R7 is a pretty good tire but they do have some issues...

Seems to be more so on the R7 than the R6. My rears (across several sets) are flat overnight fairly consistently when there is weight on them.

Bill - I had the same issue with the Turbo and the R 6/7's.
I always put them away over inflated which seemed to help the minimize the flat spotting as well.
Usually took about 3 weeks to notice a pressure drop.

Are we talking about loaded or unloaded tires?
I stack my tires in my basement in the winter - which is a lot of work! Over the course of the winter most go flat. Is that bad if they are not on a car?
What about unmounting a used tire for a while? Any problem there?
Never really thought about this.

Had exactly the same thing happen to me. I aired them up and they were good to go.
Btw, these were Hoosier rain tires on regular cast rims for a Spec Mustang, not a 911.

im thinking most of my issues are with the rims i built up. (3 piece wheels) some leak more than others but last for 2-3 days with no leaking that is noticble. a week later, the tires are pretty down on pressure, at least half of my 2 racing sets. (4 out of 8 rims have this issue) i dont know for sure its the tires or the rims. never seemed to have the problem when running toyos, so maybe its the tire?

Lots of race tires leak air. It's from the rubber compounds on the inside of the carcass. Goodyear tires for F2000 and FF used to be real bad.

Advanced
I bought 18" Hoosiers R7 a month ago for my GT3 track car and all 4 leaked air with the rears leaking more than the fronts. After 4 track days and sitting for a month, the fronts are now loosing only a few lbs/week and I'm ok with that, but the rears still go flat in the garage in 3-4 days leaking at 25-30 places all around the circumference of the inside bead seal while submerged in my jacuzzi dunk tank. These were mounted by the online dealer and I have subsequently had the rears remounted by my local performance tire shop mounter and they still leak at that same rate. The beads slap completely flush and even after trying again to seal with bead sealer, they still leak in many places around the inside bead. My rims have had several sets of Hoosiers with "0" leaking issues and I have now remounted the old 1/2 used previous 2 rear backup Hoosiers and there are "0" bead seat leaks. There are no visible signs on the beads that would seem to explain the bead leaks. I am asking Hoosier to replace them.
Wondering if anyone else has had bead seal issues with Hoosier's R7 and or if anyone thinks this might produce a high speed tire blow out?

wonder if its the bead surface consistency.... i have half the tires that dont lose any air. and the other half is flat in a week. thought it might be because i was using used tires..............but my new set did the same thing..... it follows the rim, or 50% of the tires have this issue and the rim is just a coincidence. anyone else have this issue that follows all the tires of a set?
