I guess there's something about the Snell rating/testing process that I don't understand. How did the helmet get a Snell rating and then fail in Snell testing?

When the helmet was tested prior to being certified it passed all the tests. However, random obtained helmets
are tested by Snell to make sure that they are still able to pass the same tests. The Voyager 2 didn't pass the chin strap test.
Simpson has stepped up and and is offering options to remedy the problem.

In the 25+ years that OG Racing has been in business this is the First time that Simpson has had a problem with their helmets that I am aware of.
The contact for Simpson is 1.800.654.7223 or V2helmet@teamsimpson.com.

In the coming weeks/months if you see someone using one of these helmets ask them if they know about the recall.
We want to make sure that everyone affected by this is made aware.

nice if you have a 1000dollar paint job on your helmet and have to toss it! (or exchange it)

I'm not sure what would happen in that case. So far they've been handling this very well.

Is my remedy with you or the manufacturer (Simpson)?

Simpson has stated that they will handle everything on this. The details are in the notice in the link and it explains what needs to be done.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Also let me know if any road blocks pop up in the return program.

Very straight forward so far. you sent me an email, I contacted them, they sent me a Fed Ex label and asked if I wanted them to fix it and return it or if I wanted a refund. really can't get better than that.

Default I just experienced an awesome customer service experience

Simpson could not have handled this event any better. I dropped off my helmet at the fedex office this morning. I found out about the recall at 4PM yesterday.

And kudos to you Bill and OG Racing for posting the news here on RL. This is how an enthusiast forum is supposed to work (a learning experience). It makes wading through the occasional mounds of BS well worth it.

Feel free to echo my comments to BA at Simpson. She was great to work with.

Thanks,

Al

So far everyone who had one of the affected helmets that has contacted us after speaking with
Simpson has said that Simpson is doing a good job getting this taken care.

Where on the helmet does it say Voyager 2? I found the Snell certification but don't see a model name for the helmet.

Also, mine is an XL and it looks like they only issued the Voyager 2 helmets in Med and Large - correct?

Is the helmet an SA2015 helmet? The SA2015 sticker will be on the inside of the helmet and may be under the padding.

Yes, it is a SA2015 helmet. I can see the sticker, and others stickers under the foam, but no where does it mention the model name of the helmet.
