You can tell by the casual motion on the back straight...
I've just gotten off the phone with another accomplished club driver who rode with a pro in the driver's new Radical SR8 this past week. The club driver, his first time in the car, did a low 1:23. The pro did a low 1:20 and a mid 1:22 WITH the owner riding with him!
The club driver marveled at the pro's CONFIDENCE that the car WOULD stick, and that the pro had faith in his abilities to fix it, if it didn't.
Many of us in the business of driver performance enhancement have found that with access to data, "intelligent video" and with ENHANCED knowledge of the track, of the car, of leveraging the benefits of aerodynamics, of the distribution of weight and weight transfer on the corners of the car, more casual drivers can incrementally improve to performance levels very near pros, simply because that enhanced, global and interlinked KNOWLEDGE allows them to believe they can do more than they THINK they can.
It's fun stuff, and easier to do now safely than any time before...

Three Wheelin'
I was there this weekend supporting one GT4CS and 3 Cup cars. The Club Sports showed great speed. Our GT3 C4 cups were not any faster than the fastest CS. The new shock and spring package really improved these cars.

And the tire, too. The DH-A rear makes the car pretty easy to drive.
That said, last year, I think only Andrew Davis and Jason Hart dipped below 1:30.00.
This year, I don't know if anyone other than Robby and perhaps one or two others did that, either.
Big thing was that the average lap time of ALL the competitors was:
A) quicker
B) there was a much narrower spread of lap times for the GT4 CS and GT4 CS/MR group
It's a great class, now!

The two MR cars under the BGB tent dipped into the 1:29s (Jim *** in his car and Cass Whitehead in a customer's car.)
Top 3 cars dipped into the 1:30s range.
(I managed to get my Trophy Spec car down to 1:31.16. Thats full doors with glass and me at 215 pounds.)
The new shock package was notable.
I found that there was no "jiggle" when going under the bridge and the turn 2 "rumble jump" was able to be absorbed quite well and shocks did a nice job of dampning it.
The car really performs well and it Looks like it will be another great season in the Trophy East!
