Oops, I set VIR on fire

That could have been a lot worse had you hit the wall or been unable to start! Good example that bad things can happen even in DE so it is good to wear fire safety gear - but luckily not to you!
Nice video production BTW!

That was a well controlled exit from the track which wasn't dramatic at all, just keep driving the car.
Had you tried to steer it back on after putting 2 off, well, that would have been more dramatic. Thanks for posting.
That was a great weekend @ VIR (I was running in black group).

Nice work! yep, keep driviing and moving is the rule for sure! At thunderhilll, thats a daily occurrence, with alll the dry grass off line. no big deal as long as you are not sitting on a bunch of tall dry grass....... sad, folks have lost nice cars for just sitting in a grass fire.

Similar thing happened when I was crewing for a World Challenge team in Sept 2010. The driver went off and packed the front end full of grass, including the brake ducts that had no screens. As soon as he stopped in the pits the grass packed around both front wheels caught fire. Maybe they need to rake their fields after they cut them, I can't recall this happening at any other track. We weren't the only car that had issues that weekend.
