I read that the metal rollers on the S4000 are not advised for use with the synthetic rope. That said, I used it for over a year with no issues as I keep forgetting to allocate the time to change the fairlead. No obvious damage to the rope so far.

When I asked Superwinch what I needed, they only tried to sell me a different drum part, they said nothing else was needed (aside from rope). When I installed the new rope it worked fine with the old drum.

Thanks for the advice. I picked up a Superwinch S5500 with a synthetic rope and it is a great improvement over my last winch.
