Slush box?!
I watched the video and didn't even realize that the driver wasn't shifting until reading this thread.
That slush box appears to be telepathic.

Crazy to see that slush box grab another gear at +/- 170mph. Sheesh!

Have a buddy (Jason) with a Black on Black, new Z28. Amazing machine, huge tires, front and rear,....he came up on me on the back straight at WGI (Niagara Open track event) like a speeding bullet train...pointed him by and watched him go over the rumbles into the bus stop.....car didn't flinch, no bouncing, no jostling, flat as a pancake.....close behind was our buddy in a GT350 .......fun to watch......

As for the Camaro, a real beast AND, with a full factory warranty! Not so sure our beloved GT3's can say that anymore....... looks like the American muscle car has matured into not only a straight line machine but one hell of a road course carver, too! Full factory warranty, Hear that Porsche! just in case your tuning in here..........

that was amazing to me too. the fact that i knows by braking force when to downshift.... crazy. however, it would have been faster with some additional downshifts around some turns.

i think all autos cold do that (shift at redline) however, in this case, FOR SURE, he would have hit over 185 had he not shifted . (redline is 6600rpm and it shifted at 6200rpm at 170mph.

with all that power now, i thnk it can beat a GT3 and its lowly 400hp.
i was more impressed with its performance on the ring on Firestone street tires. (Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires)

Actually my car, 2013 C2S, has the lowly 400hp, I think the GT3 is now pushing 485hp with the GT3 RS pushing 500hp.

oh yes, i was talking about the ones we regularly see. but now, wit the cup cars in the 500hp range, and the camaro, at 650hp, they can keep up!
they are being made so much better now.. but still for a street car, a little too plastic for me.

As Mark mentioned, it's GM's test race track, and is at the proving grounds in Milford, MI. Pretty easy to see on Google satellite image...

If the Camaro was a factory car, why no head containment seat, or middle net? I thought those were a standard safety item these days.

not even in the rules for SCCA club racing. I think it was a minimal safety configuration
