Auto-x with snow tires?
So quick question for the great and wise Rennlist forum. I will be attending a Car Control clinic tomorrow with my 17 year old daughter. I will be driving my Cayman R, and she will be driving the family Audi A3. I'm not worried about the Audi tires, but I'd rather not use my Yoko's which are on my R as they are still relatively new and I have 3 more track days to go this season so here's my question:
The R came with a set of Pirelli snow tires on 18 inch rims. Can I use those safely? They are in good shape, but I don't know how they are paired. Is there some way to find out which pairs go together so I can mount them myself today? Should I just use the Yoko's?
Any help is much appreciated!

Depends. Which Yokos do you have and which Pirellis?
Unless they are directional I don't think the pairing is that big of a deal.

There is no reason not to use the Yoko's. If they were a slick that were slow to heat and had a heat cycle dependent life span, then that would be one thing. But using the Neovas for a car control clinic will barely put a blip on their life span. This is assuming your alignment isn't out of whack of course.
Have fun. Sounds like a blast.

Run the snow tires, you will slide the car much easier and it will give you a true car control experience. I ran an AutoX on snow tires and it was very entertaining.
However since you run the Yoko's on the track it does make more sense to run those and get used to the break away point so you have a better understanding of your car and those tires at the limit.
