I can get a whole weekend on them after the grooves are gone. 1991 C2.

I've been through quite a few pairs...this paragraph is completely spot on.

I had a weird issue with one this past weekend that's never happened before. These rears still had ALOT of life left in them in my opinion so kinda a bummer but oh well. They have been used off and on for over 2 years now though.

Looks like a nasty delamination. What is that divot in the middle of it? I wonder if you hit something. I've never seen one do that and I've been through over a 1/2 dozen sets.

BTW, Discounttiredirect is doing a $75 rebate a set of four NT01s plus a $60 rebate if you charge it to a Discount Tire credit card for the next week or so for Labor Day. $158 each for NT-01 235/40-17 after sales tax and free shipping. You also get six months no interest. Smoking deal for NT01s.

I also think their 100 dollars off purchase of 400 happens in the next couple if weeks. No need for credit, and can get a set of 255/40/17 for 600 shipped!

I would seriously advise not driving those worn tyres to and from the track if there is a hint of wet weather around. I did exactly that on similarly worn Nittos and drove into a sudden storm. Slid off the road into guard rail and then spun at least 180o across highway to wind up facing backwards in the centre nature strip. Had an 18 wheeler been beside me....I had also slowed down considerably watching the oncoming rain approach.

I think it was from hitting curbs at Watkins Glen..that's where it came apart. The divot looks more like from where it was tearing through the fender liner.

That is really good. The last time I did the $100 off 4 on Ebay it was $684 shipped for 235/40-17 (Mar 2016).

The credit card is decent for a store card. Don't want to pay interest on it, but I've never had an issue on it. Discount has been very good to me wrt to rebates - fast and they have even re-issued rebate cards that expired because I was too slow to use them.

I'm trailering. I wouldn't want to drive full tread NT-01s in the wet on the street.

That looks like a broken belt, not delam. Delam is when a rubber layer starts to come off (like a gator in the road from an 18 wheeler). Broken belts make blisters.

6 sets of a tires is still in the rookie stage! I've probably got over a dozen sets of Nittos worn out in the last 4 years or so. I hate to think of how many Hoosiers that would be!

I'd say 2 more days max left if you can't see the wear holes at all.

That's because you didn't split it into 2 separate purchases! Buy 2 tires at a time and then stock up on valve stems to hit the 400 dollar threshold.....

Oh good Lord! Yep, I'm a little slow on the uptake.

Let's see, I'll take two NT-01s for $177 each, that's $354 - and then $46 worth of valve stems to make it an even $400. Do that twice, get two $100 discounts, and badabing-badamoom $600 for four NT-01s and a ****load of valve stems.

The only catch for me, is tax would add at least $50 to that, for $650 -> $162.50 each. You must live in a state w/o Discount Tire or you don't pay sales tax. Although, $162.50 each for 255's versus the 235's I bought for $158 ain't bad. I don't know if 255's would fit on my car.

Just checked my invoice, and no sales tax applied but have a discount tire right down the street...

I ran 255 on Kosei K1s with 3.2 degrees front and 2.5 degrees rear. No spacers, and did a minor fender roll just in case. Never any rubbing.

Moved on to 275 NT01S, but that required some flares!

Send the state your leftover valve stems to cover the tax.

I have to run spacers up front due to the brakes. The rear is slammed low from the coil over Motons and 245 Hankook Z214s barely fit in the fenders - and they have already been rolled. Maybe someday, but the 235's just work today.

Are the R888s any better? I had seen that the R888 were the rain tire for SP996 until the end of the year and had assumed they were similar to the NT01.
