Default Way to fix damaged SC video file?

I have a 1.7G file from my SCGP that is a .mov format but the icon associated with it is the Quicktime one and not a small pic of the actual video (like all my other SCGP files). This file was a recording of when I had an off (not a bad one, just bumpy) and I'm convinced this somehow messed with the recording of that session. As I was trying a particular turn flat out (sorry), I'm curious to see just went wrong.

I have tried QT, VLC, AVS, WMP, MPEG Streeamclip and they all cannot recognize the file. It's a huge file so I would think the video is there.

Any tips? I use both Mac and PC (on my Mac).

Is there an .FOF file?

Some of the tools in this thread may help you as well https://rennlist.com/forums/data-acq...pair-tool.html

Yes. There is FOF too. I'll read through that Matt. Thanks.

Then you had a sd card problem. If you've had this before, I would suggest changing the card.

Try the tool that Jerry posted on his website at http://austinmotorsportsllc.com/docu...ce-information. Hopefully that helps.

It looks like you were using the same server as hillary clinton to store your video files.

If that were the case, then all I would need to do is find some low level hacker who could find the original file for me.

Turn 3? Turn 6? Inquiring minds want to know!

.FOF files are generated when there is a write-speed error (the card won't accept the information and video as fast as the camera is sending it) on the card. The index is screwed up, so while its reserved 1.7 GB of space on the card, it doesn't know how to find the start or stop in the file info.

I recommend replacement of SD cards annually and I only use and recommend a very few brands and speeds. Top being the 600x (90 GB/s) Class 10 Transcend, in retail packaging.

And I was just about to ask which speeds are best for the memory cards.

I was working up to flat through T2. I had been either breathing the throttle or gently left foot braking and after many laps I decided to leave my foot in it all the way through T2. I got too far out on the turtles which bottoms my car badly and rather than risk trying to get back on I just let it ride into the grass. Not much drama and I'm glad I didn't try to save it. I am convinced that my car on fresh tires should be able to go flat through T2. If I'm close to making it work then the car is more than capable of it!

I am flat through T3 so if I could go flat through T2 it would be significant.

This was without going off track:

While we're at it Peter, is 32 GB the biggest card that should be run in a SCGP?

I run 64 Gb cards. They seem to be the a very good value and are big enough to record a full weekend or more. I like Sandisk cards, but that is probably from photography hobbies where they rule the roost.

So I used that program from Jerry's website and it did indeed resurrect my video BUT the part where I went off is absent. I'm guessing that this part of the recording was compromised by the rough ride in the grass. Interesting.

I have had sessions before in which I also got these FOF files and a defective MOV file so I will keep this tool handy for the future.

AND, I will invest in some higher speed cards.

If you took more curb (which is friendly) on the INSIDE of T2, it would allow your goal to be achieved more easily.

I can't recommend Sandisk 64 GB high speed cards unless reformatted in FAT32 as opposed to exFAT. Lost too many videos to these damned cards. It's a known issue with SmartyCams and while Windows doesn't have a native tool to fix this, you can with OS X Disk Utility.

SCHD are capable of at least 128 GB.

Thanks Peter.
More curb next time! I know it can be done if I stay relaxed.
