These in-car cameras are _useless_ as designed. The times they are needed (crash) the file is always corrupted. AIM and GoPro etc need to include a utility to fix these files, or make the damn things WORK by including a big power capacitor to let it run until the file can be saved when power is lost.

I can't find an avi repair utility for my AIM smartycam

Rant over....

Gopro has a utility built in to fix a corrupted file.

Mike, you need better support, for sure.

I've got hundreds of SmartyCams out there that work just fine...

And 90% of the SmartyCam users bought because they were sick of (and former users of) charging/starting/stopping/no-video-of-their-best-run GoPro users...

You can easily hard wire a mini usb charger into your car for the GoPro.
Amazon.com: Garmin USB Power Cable: Garmin: Cell Phones & Accessories Amazon.com: Garmin USB Power Cable: Garmin: Cell Phones & Accessories

I use a velcro strap to hold the charger in the port, the only time I have a problem is when I do something stupid.

before we switched to SmartyCams, i used this hard-wired USB port to power our gopros:

It's a nice piece of kit.

And the rest of us got tired of overlaying data and video.

I still have corrupt files I'd love to see but none of the utilities seem to work on those.
My ChaseCam also corrupts the data if you power down before it can save the video file (as in a crash....).
