PFC Rotors wear opinion... 997.2 GT3
X-post
I'm driving a 2010 GT3 with PFC slotted rotors matched with PFC 08 pads in front.. Rears are OEM with PFC 08 as well. Very pleased with balance and performance..These rotors have about 12 DE and open track days..
Having heard and read many conflicting opinions of when to replace these PFC rotors and should be used until the slotted.. I'm concerned about the size of the cracks while the slots are still visable..
Pictures taken today both right and left..

Here is my personal opinion: before I switched to Girodiscs I had Sebro slotted rotors and I tossed them out way before they looked as bad as yours. I wouldn't gamble on rotors that look like these

Wow, 12 days ? I raced my 996 cup all season long (7 race weekends) on one set of Alcon floaters.....Cracks were about half of what yours seem to be...How is your brake cooling ? What is your braking technique ?

Thanks very much for your comments..
Clark at Apex is shipping over a new set...
Do you believe the PFC 08' pads are too hard on rotors! I'm replacing rotors to pads at 2:1..
In other words two rotors for one pad.. Doesn't make sense..

Those cracks are fine and normal. pfc rotor is good until a crack is at the edge.
FWIW, if you are doing track days, you should have a replacement set of pads AND rotors with you to change on the fly.
And if you buy a second set of hats, then you can premount the front rotors so changing at the track is easy, fast and you won't burn your fingers.

It's not really comparable I guess. I used to do track days with a 997.2 GT3, and I am running a 996 Cup now. The 996 Cup is a lot easier on the brakes. They seem to last forever compared to my 997 street car. I guess the weight difference plays a huge role.
