Wow; as we speak I have a set of the exact same wheels (which I have had for 2 years as my street wheels) being mounted with R7s. I am going to reverse that before this weekends DE event at Brainerd Int'l. Thanks for the heads up and I'm glad you and your car are OK.

For what it's worth, I had a set of victor wheels on my 997S for a while. Once they were installed I definitely noticed the weight difference vs. my stock wheels. Not sure if the innsbruck is the same or not but that alone would preclude them from track use for me.

What's the country of manufacture on the wheels?

Happy that Don's ok and the car is going to be OK. This is a pucker factor event for sure.

Will make for a great wall clock though

ive seen that SO much with the off brand wheels. pretty ugly when this happens at the track. i remember one that was on a S2000 race car at willow springs ... big moment after the Budweiser building.
I also remember one of my competitors at laguna breaking a wheel like this but it didnt come apart. just rattled around for a lap. uggg!!

I've also seen it on OEM Porsche wheels. I make it a point to clean my wheels inside and out at least enough to inspect them every time I change.

Each and every time I swap - I visually inspect the tires and wheels. Each and every time.

i remember my forgelines (early versions back in 99) sofro had a set too. they needed to be "stress relieved" whatever that means as one was cracking badly at the spoke to outer rim area. could have been ugly! love the 3 piece wheels from the known entities... they are bulllet proof!

By an odd circumstance, I was actually on track with you that session. Very glad to hear the car will be ok. It looked pretty bad when I went by it, but at the time I was thinking more wheel mounting area, not the actual wheel. Seeing the pics I think you're very lucky the entire thing didn't come out from under the car, considering the side load at corner exit.

Dynaflux or magnaflux pentrant would go a long way in checking for cracks.

There have indeed been a few threads on this already on various forums in the last few years. I remember reading that V.E's statement was basically they are for street use only and not intended for track use.

edit: found this thread..

Definitely a good idea, but who is going to do this to all their wheels before each track event?

I've always said that visual inspection goes a long way (I remove my wheels from the car and clean/inspect after every track event). But I think the OP said he had just inspected his wheels shortly before the failure? I'd be curious to know how they were inspected ...

Thanks guys. So I ended up getting ahold of TSW and they told me (exact words) "since we never exchanged money with you directly, there is nothing we can do for you to warranty the wheel, you need to talk to the distributor" WTF? really? Last time I checked they mfg the wheel, not the dealer At any rate, I'm now looking at proven options. I appreciate the feedback and I agree it will make a nice clock or serving bowl

Samsung must be very excited about this new definition of manufacturer warranty.

Wow
I took a look at the TSW website and Victor is an 'associate brand' (whatever that means).
Reading the Victor site and its claims about being 'the best' and 'ultimate' and 'no compromises' would make me think they build a high quality wheel.
Sorry this happened to you but really glad you are ok.
