993 vs 997GT3RS...Nordschleife.

He's a cool and very down to earth guy. Allways see and chat with him at the 'ring. The fact that he is there everytime I go, means he is there a lot.
The car is a C4, he really liked my CAE shifter but cannot install one in his car.
A pic from last fall at the Nordschleife parking Place. The maestro himself is the guy in the black T-shirt

So while I've seen many of his videos and they are very entertaining to watch, I started to wonder is that a good way to drive? Yes control and quick hands are great, but in other videos the car starts sliding in weird situations. There is a good video with him and red gt3 where you can see his car from outside, and it starts drifting in turns quite often. What's going on there? We are taught that the less you do in the car the faster the car is or somethig along those lines.

its not fast to be correcting like that... its much slower than not having to put the car in a situation to have to correct like that to start with.

I see it as he is driving a stripped out 993 with less than 300bhp. He gets into slide as he is pushing the car very fast and reaching the limits of grip. That he can correct with quick hands means he keeps going forwards at high speed. He doesn't drop mph drastically when this is happening. Sure, if he was doing big Top Gear / Chris Harris broadsides then yes, losing a lot of time. But his slipping is at very high speeds and probably a lot faster than most would be reaching in a 993. Having a relatively light n/a car means it's very catchable. Don't know much about this guy but I bet he cuts fast laps compared to most.
