Default HPDE number size requirement

Does PCA have a requirement for the size of the numbers on the car? I can't locate anything under the PCA DE minimum standards in that regard.

Or is this up to the event organizers? I've seen windshield (smaller) only and then sides and hood (larger).

Reason:

Only place for magnetics on a GT4 is above the rear wheel, air intake. That limits sizing due to the compound curve.

P.S.
Painters tape is cheaper than "reusable" vinyl.

P.P.S.
I did a search but nothing came up. May not have used the correct search parameters.

I think 2" is the minimum - but really 3"+ is more readable.

I don't believe there is a minimum size for DE by national, so it's up the regions. I believe SCCA is 8" with a 1.5" stroke. The most important part is that they are able to be read at around 100' on a moving car.

Keep in mind that you want your car easily identified, adding to Matt's point about visibility at 100' on a moving/spinning/whatever car.
My numbers are actually on the small side, but the graphics are rather prominent.

I don't know about a national requirement but minimum of 8" is commonly recommended. See my avatar RE: 8" and placement.

Hard to see from your avatar: vinyl or magnetics?

Understand that the 987 and 981 have different compound curves in that area as well as available space

I hear ya about the curves and space limitations.

As far as my numbers, they're vinyl stickers that're "permanently" attached to my car. I got them from edecals.com (no affiliation).

I would get vinyl, use painters tape, or white shoe polish on the glass. You have to be careful with magnetic numbers that both they and the surface is perfectly clean (unless you like scratches) and the leading edge has to be taped or it may become a frisbee at 100 MPH...

I just heard back and some regions I run with have an 8" tall minimum requirement which is too tall for magnetics in the location.

Vinyl is out because
a) I don't like to leave on numbers when I DD
b) too cheap to constantly replace them

Too Cheap? How many events a year could you possibly run that the cost of vinyl is too high? Sheets of 10 stickers are what, $5?

Would love to see those on your car on a track doing 100+ mph. Please provide pics.

Roll of painters tape is cheaper, lasts longer and allows for customization.

Thanx for playing.

The re-usable vinyl numbers last over a year if used once or twice a month.

So you ask for a link to vinyl numbering for 5 bucks and when I do the research and provide, you get snarky because I hinted that you could find it yourself?

Glad you figured out an answer to your own question (painters tape) but just provided some good rhetoric for us all to read through in the process. Good luck
